Regular hedge cutting ensures good, thick hedges, which provide good screens and a good habitat for wildlife. We tackle hedges from the very small and ornate, all the way up to large hedges.
This is an overall reduction of the outline of the tree, whilst maintaining shape. This type of work can be for various reasons, including giving more light in the area around the tree, or to reduce weight on large, heavy limbs.
For certain species of tree, this is a good maintenance routine. Generally, fast growing broadleaf trees lend themselves to this. If left unmanaged, they can outgrow themselves which can lead to branches being shed. Pollarding them removes excess weight and at the same time, you are left with a more compact, safe tree.
Dismantling / Felling
Dismantling: carefully taking the tree apart, section by section. This can include lowering sections with additional ropes, the use of mechanical platforms or cranes.
Felling: cutting the tree down at the base. This method is used when it is safe to do so and there is enough space on the site to bring the tree down whole.
This is a service provided when the stump area needs to be re-purposed. This can be, for example, a new tree in the same site or grass seeding for lawn. The machine removes the main stump area and the larger roots. We can get a stump grinder to most stumps, even if it is through a house.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do you do with the wood chip?
Most of it is used in farm/horse yards as a soft floor for animals or to keep weeds suppressed. Customers are welcome to keep the woodchip for their own use if they wish.
Can you get the stump grinder to the stump as access is restricted?
We can access most stumps. If there is very limited access, a handheld machine can be carried to the stump
Are there any council restrictions on having work carried out on my trees?
We can check with the local authority and carry out the applications on your behalf, if applicable.
Is the wood any good for use on the wood burner?
All logs burn more efficiently if they have been seasoned for at least 12 months. Seasoned wood is less likely to tar your chimney.
